Pipes can smell - and they can also make your bathroom smell awfully.
While you can clean everything, you can't clean inside the pipes to get rid of that odor - or can you?
Here are a few tips that can help you fight the pipe odor.
Flush with Hot Water
Sometimes, the smell is because of stuff building up in the pipes. Run hot water down the drain for a few minutes. This can help clean things out.
Use Baking Soda and Vinegar
Pour about half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by half a cup of vinegar. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then flush it with hot water.
This can help eliminate odors.
Boil Some Water
Boil a pot of water and pour it down the drain. The hot water can help break down and wash away things causing the smell.
Clean the Drain Stopper
If you have a drain stopper, take it out and clean it. Sometimes, gunk builds up on it and causes odors.
Use Lemon or Citrus
Cut a lemon into small pieces and drop them down the disposal. Run cold water and turn on the disposal to help freshen things up.
Check for Trapped Debris
Sometimes, things get stuck in the pipes. If you can, check for any visible debris and remove it.
Use a Plunger
If the smell is coming from a sink, use a plunger to help remove any blockages. It works for smells as well as clogs.
Call a Professional
If the smell persists and you can't figure it out, it might be time to call a plumber. They can help identify and fix any bigger issues.
