Even such small items as socks can be washed improperly.

It can lead to them staying dirty, or just being damaged by your washing machine.

Let's find out how to make them clean safely and effectively.

Not sorting socks properly

One common mistake is failing to sort socks before washing them.

It's important to separate socks by color and fabric type to prevent color bleeding or damage.

Washing white socks with colored ones can lead to discoloration, while washing delicate socks with rougher fabrics can cause snags and tears.

Not using a mesh laundry bag

Socks are small and can easily get lost or tangled in the washing machine.

Using a mesh laundry bag can help protect socks from getting stretched, snagged, or lost during the wash cycle.

Place the socks inside the bag and zip it closed before placing it in the washing machine.

Overloading the washing machine

Stuffing too many socks or laundry items into the washing machine can prevent proper agitation and rinsing, leading to insufficient cleaning.

Overloading the machine can also increase friction, causing socks to wear out faster and lose their shape. It's best to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the maximum load capacity of your washing machine.

Turning them inside out

Lots of people accidentally turn their socks inside out when taking them off, and sometimes they forget to fix that before washing them.

It can lead to all dirt and debris still being inside your sock after you clean it in a washing machine.
