The recipe for the famous Russian salad was first published in a newspaper in 1985. 

He is still loved today. True, the ingredients in the recipe have changed slightly. 

Ingredients

  • 4 boiled potatoes;
  • 3-5 hardboiled eggs;
  • 400 g smoked ham; 
  • 250 g canned peas;
  • 3-4 pickled cucumbers;
  • 50 g mayonnaise. 

If you are afraid to get better, take mayonnaise, which contains less fat. In extreme cases, you can replace mayonnaise with sour cream.

Many will ask: "But what about boiled carrots?" Therefore, the essence of Olivier is that almost anything (except fruits) can be added to its composition.

Carrots can be added optional. You will need two small or one large carrots.

Cooking secrets

The first step is to boil all ingredients (eggs, potatoes, carrots). Products are washed and placed in a cooking pot. Eggs are best boiled separately, they cook faster than other products.

It is best to cook them for 7 to 10 minutes. If the shell is cracked, you can turn off the fire. Before boiling, leave the eggs in the room for 30 minutes so that they come to room temperature.

Potatoes and carrots should not be peeled. This will take 30 minutes.

It's time to move on to other products. Smoked ham must be cut into small squares.

Peas are sold in a jar, ready-made, we do not touch it.

We take out a large bowl and put all the ingredients in it. Peas are recommended to be added at the end of cooking. Drain the juice from the jar.

Then cut the pickled cucumbers into small pieces. They should be the same size as the sausage.

Cool the eggs in cold water, peel and cut into cubes.

Try to keep all chopped ingredients the same form. This will look prettier. There is a special tool with which you can easily chop eggs.

Add eggs to the food in the bowl.

Carrots and potatoes must be cooled and peeled. Since they were cooked in a peel, first, we clean them from it, and then we cut them into pieces.

If you add warm ingredients to the salad, it will quickly spoil. Take your time and wait until they cool down.

 Mayonnaise is added to the salad and everything is mixed.

Olivier is ready! It is served at the table in combination with cold cuts, fried chicken, pork or beef meat. Just don't go overboard with the salad. It is enough to eat a little. The dish is high-calorific.
