Your fridge has to be clean to be a safe space for your food storage, but also it's food that makes it dirty quite quickly.

Though you don't have to clean it daily (or sometimes even weekly), you still need to take care of your fridge occasionally.

Here are a few tips on how to do it properly.

Discard Expired and Spoiled Food

Check the expiration dates on your food items and discard any that are past their prime or showing signs of spoilage.

This step helps declutter your fridge and prevents the spread of bacteria or odors.

Remove and Wash Shelves and Drawers

Take out all removable shelves, drawers, and compartments from the fridge.

Wash them with warm, soapy water, using a mild dish detergent. Scrub gently to remove any food residue or stains.

Rinse thoroughly and allow them to dry completely before putting them back into the fridge.

Clean the Interior

Wipe down the interior walls, ceiling, and door of the fridge.

Use a mixture of warm water and mild dish detergent or a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar.

Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the solution and gently scrub the surfaces, paying attention to any spills or sticky spots.

Rinse the cloth frequently and change the water or solution as needed.

Clean the Door Seals and Handles

The door seals and handles can accumulate dirt and grime over time.

Use a damp cloth or sponge and mild detergent to clean these areas thoroughly.

Pay attention to any crevices or grooves where dirt may accumulate. Rinse and dry the seals and handles properly to prevent moisture buildup.

Restock and Organize

Once the fridge is clean and dry, organize and restock it with the food items you kept in the cooler.

Consider arranging items by category and use clear containers or storage bins to keep things organized.

Check the temperature settings to ensure they are appropriate for food preservation.
