Not just the tiles themselves, but also tile joints require regular cleaning and maintenance to look good.

Over time, tile joints can become dark and dirty, and it's always easier to avoid it than to fix it.

Here are a few things you can do.

Gather your supplies

Get a small brush with stiff bristles, a sponge or cloth, mild detergent or tile cleaner, warm water, and a bucket.

Prepare a cleaning solution

Mix a small amount of mild detergent or tile cleaner with warm water in the bucket.

Follow the instructions on the cleaner's label for proper dilution.

Wet the joints

Dip the brush in the cleaning solution and wet the tile joints thoroughly.

Make sure the solution penetrates into the grout lines.

Scrub the joints

Use the brush to scrub the grout lines in a back-and-forth or circular motion.

Apply gentle pressure to remove dirt, grime, and stains from the joints. Focus on one small area at a time.

Rinse with water

Once you've scrubbed the joints, rinse the area with clean water.

You can use a sponge or cloth soaked in water to wipe away the cleaning solution and any loosened dirt.

Dry the joints

After rinsing, use a dry cloth or towel to remove excess moisture from the tile joints.

Ensuring the joints are dry helps prevent the growth of mold or mildew.

Preventive measures

To maintain clean tile joints, it's helpful to take preventive measures.

Avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools that may damage the grout.

Wipe spills or stains on the tiles and joints promptly to prevent them from settling in.

Regular maintenance

Regularly clean the tile joints to prevent dirt and grime buildup.

Depending on the level of usage and dirt accumulation, a monthly or quarterly cleaning routine can help keep the joints looking clean and fresh.
